1. Information we collect about you
a. In General. We may collect information that can identify you such as your name and email address (“personal information”) and other information that does not identify you. We may collect this information through a website or a mobile application. By using the Service, you are authorizing us to gather, process, analyze, and retain data related to the provision of the Service.
b. Information you provide. In order to register as a user with M8, you will be asked to sign in using your Facebook login. If you do so, you authorize us to access certain Facebook account information, such as your public Facebook profile (consistent with your privacy settings in Facebook), your email address, interests, likes, gender, birthday, education history, relationship interests, current city, photos, personal description, friend list, and information about and photos of your Facebook friends who might be common Facebook friends with other M8 users. You will also be asked to allow M8 to collect your geo-location information from your device when you download or use the Service. If you permit us to receive this information, we use it to provide location-based features on the Service, such as to propose matches and offers based on such location information. We, and our third-party partners, may also infer your location from your IP address and other data, to help us provide and improve the Service and so we can learn more about the geographic regions of the M8 users. In addition, we may collect and store any personal information you provide while using our Service or in some other manner. This may include identifying information, such as your name, address, email address and telephone number. You may also provide us photos from your device, a personal description and information about your gender and preferences for recommendations, such as search distance, age range and gender. If you chat with other M8 users using the Service, we receive the content of your chats, and if you contact us with a customer service or other inquiry, you provide us with the content of that communication.
c. Use of technologies to collect information. We use various technologies to collect information from your device and about your activities on our Service.
d. Information collected automatically. We, and our third-party partners, automatically collect information from your browser or device when you visit our Service. This information could include your IP address, device ID and type, your browser type and language, the operating system used by your device, access times, your mobile device’s geographic location while our application is actively running, and the referring website address.
f. Information collected by third-parties for advertising purposes. We may allow service providers, advertising companies and ad networks, and other third parties to display advertisements on our Service. These companies may use tracking technologies, such as cookies or web beacons, to collect information about users who view or interact with their advertisements. We do not provide any non-anonymized personal information to these third parties.
2. We may use information we collect about you
a. Internal and Service-Related Usage. We use information, including personal information, for internal and service-related purposes. We may use and retain any data we collect to provide and improve any of our services.
b. Communications. We may send emails to the email address you provide to us and push notifications to your mobile device if you have downloaded our app and enabled notifications, to verify your account and for informational and operational purposes, such as account management, customer service, system maintenance, and other Service-related purposes.
c. Marketing. We may use information, including personal information, for marketing purposes, such as providing personalized online advertising on the Service, offers from nearby businesses, and sending you information we think may be useful or relevant to you. You may opt out of email marketing by using the unsubscribe link in a marketing email.
d. Aggregate Data. We may anonymize or aggregate data collected through the Service and use and disclose it for any purpose.
3. We may share information we collect about you
b. Service providers. We may share information, including personal and financial information, with third parties that perform certain services on our behalf.
c. Other users. The information and content you provide to the Service may be displayed on the Service to others. For example, if you use the Service to receive dating suggestions, any other user of the Service may see your profile (not including your contact information) and propose a match for you. We are not responsible for how other users will view and use the posted information.
d. Marketing and Advertising Partners. We do not rent, sell, or share personal information (as defined by California Civil Code §1798.83) about you that we collect on the Service with other people or unaffiliated companies for their direct marketing purposes, unless we have your permission. We may allow access to your information to enable the delivery of personalized online advertising to you and others on the Service and on other websites and mobile applications from us and our third-party advertising partners, or to send you information we think may be useful or relevant to you.
You may be able to opt out of receiving personalized advertisements on this browser or device from advertisers, or other advertising networks who are members of the Network Advertising Initiative or who subscribe to the Digital Advertising Alliance’s Self-Regulatory Principles for Online Behavioral Advertising by visiting the opt-out sections on the websites of each of those organizations. You may also be able to change your mobile device settings to opt out of personalized advertising through apps. For example, for iOS mobile devices, go to “Settings” from your device’s home screen; scroll down to “Privacy”; select “Advertising”; and turn on “Limit Ad Tracking.” Also, for location-based ads, you may go to “Settings” from your device’s home screen; select “Privacy”; select “Location Services”; select “System Services”; and de-select “Location-Based Apple Ads.” For Android mobile Devices, go to “Google Settings” on your Device; select “Ads”; and check the box labeled “Opt Out of Interest-Based Ads.”
We may also use the following third-party partners to help us show personalized advertising, and you may opt-out of seeing personalized ads.
When you opt out of personalized advertising, you may continue to see online advertising on the Service and/or our ads on other websites and online services.
f. Aggregated and/or non-personal information. We may use and share non-personal information we collect under any of the above circumstances. We may also share it with third parties to develop and deliver targeted advertising on our Service and on websites or applications of third parties, and to analyze and report on advertising you see. We also may share aggregated, non-personal information, or personal information in hashed, non-human readable form, with third parties, including advisors, advertisers and investors, for the purpose of conducting general business analysis or other business purposes.
5. How we protect your personal information. We take security measures to help safeguard your personal information from unauthorized access and disclosure. However, no system can be completely secure. Therefore, although we take steps to secure your information, we do not promise, and you should not expect, that your personal information, chats, or other communications will always remain secure. Users should also take care with how they handle and disclose their personal information and should avoid sending personal information through insecure email.
7. Children’s privacy. Use of our service is only for users age 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect, maintain, or use personal information from any minors.
